Change of British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia

Joanne Lomas has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia.

Ms Joanne Lomas

Ms Joanne Lomas has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia in succession to Ms Marianne Young, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Ms Lomas will take up her appointment during September 2015.

Ms Lomas joined the FCO in 1993 and is currently serving as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Sarajevo. She was previously Head of the FCO’s Global Response Centre and has been posted to the UK’s Mission to the UN in Geneva and the British Embassy in Damascus.

On her appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia, Ms Lomas has said:

I am honoured to have been appointed as the United Kingdom’s next High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia and look forward to further strengthening our bilateral, Commonwealth and commercial ties.
