On 22 August 2014 Her Majesty’s Ambassador George Edgar officially opened the first British Home Stores franchise outlet in Uzbekistan.
BHS is a popular British retailer offering stylish clothing and quality home products. There areover 180 stores across the United Kingdom and BHS franchise partners operate stores in 14 countries across the world including in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and now in Uzbekistan.
Her Majesty’s Ambassador cut the ribbon at the Samarkand Darvoza Shopping Mall to officially open the store in the presence of over 150 guests including BHS representatives from London, managers of the BHS franchise partner in Uzbekistan, entrepreneurs, journalists and the public.
At the opening ceremony Ambassador Edgar said:
It’s a pleasure to see this great British retailer opening in Uzbekistan. I’m confident that Uzbek consumers will value the high quality British goods from BHS and the store will become a favourite place for family and individual shopping in Tashkent.
The total floor area of the store is 850 square metres. It stocks clothing for women, men and children, fashion accessories and household items. BHS designers created a special atmosphere at the store, decorating it with British flags and other well-known symbols of London including a model of a double-decker bus, and the Queen’s guards welcoming visitors.
According to BHS representatives, the store in Uzbekistan will be just like a British BHS store, selling the same products, displayed in the same manner, offering value for money and, most importantly, providing a high level of customer service.
