Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Reserves


The minister is responsible for armed forces recruitment, reserves, international defence engagement, EU and supporting SofS on NATO policy.

Priority areas:

  • reserves policy and strategy
  • armed forces recruitment (reserves and regular)
  • Defence Engagement Strategy

Other responsibilities include:

  • NATO transformation and reform
  • EU policy and European bilateral relations
  • counter proliferation, arms control and disarmament
  • UK Hydrographic Office
  • Scotland and Wales
