Detail of outcome
Responses received were considered when drafting amendments to Schedule 5 of the Act.
Original consultation
Consultation description
The main purpose of the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 is to ensure good security of dangerous substances that may be targeted or used by terrorists.
The list of dangerous pathogens and toxins (biological agents) that fall within the scope of the act are contained within Schedule 5.
A cross-government and academic group reviewed the list of pathogens within Schedule 5 and recommended some changes. This consultation considered those recommendations and was aimed at laboratories and the law enforcement community.
Please note that a similar on-line consultation on amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001 was published in April 2010 but due to pre-election rules we were unable to promote it to interested parties. All responses to the 2010 consultation will be included in the summary of responses report to be issued after 17 June 2011.
