Consultation description

We are proposing changes to our knowledge and skills specifications. These documents form the basis of the qualifications linked to SIA licensing. Our proposed changes mean that some people will need to do more training than they do now.

We are also seeking views on other ideas, such as:

  • if we should introduce a new licence condition that requires close protection operatives, door supervisors and security guards to always hold a valid first aid certificate
  • if we should still allow close protection licence holders to perform other licensable activities through licence integration
  • if trainers delivering SIA licence-linked training should be required to hold an SIA licence for the sectors they are teaching
  • changing how learners demonstrate the necessary level of English language skills

The details of all of the changes we are proposing are set out in the consultation document below.
