MCA carried out the consultation of MGN 390 and as a result, MGN 515 and MGN 516 are now published and set out UK policy going forward for these types of vessel.

Summary

Seeking views on new guidance for offshore vessels about applying the International Maritime Organization and special purpose ship codes.

Consultation description

We are seeking feedback on new guidance for vessels that operate in the offshore sector which concerns:

• applying the special purpose ship (SPS) code
• applying International Maritime Organization codes and guidelines other than the SPS code such as the mobile offshore drilling unit code

The 2 new draft marine guidance notes (MGN) replace existing guidance in MGN 390.
