  • the government’s decision on removing the sunset clause

We have decided to proceed with removing the sunset clause as an interim solution. We will announce and put in place the longer term solution to lane rental as soon as possible.

Consultation description

Consultation seeking views on the removal of the sunset clause from existing lane rental schemes as a interim solution. Existing lane rental schemes are situated in London and Kent. The ‘sunset’ clause means the schemes will end in March 2019 unless regulations are amended.

The interim solution will allow the schemes in London and Kent to continue until a longer term solution is agreed and implemented, which is being consulted upon.
