Detail of outcome

This ‘Stakeholder briefing document’ for the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern (TSGN) franchise competition summarises the responses to the consultation that was carried out in 2012 (started May 2012) and provides the government’s response to it. It also provides a description of what has been included in the new Invitation to tender for the franchise competition and sets out what this might mean for stakeholders when the new franchise begins in September 2014.

Due to the general high level of interest in this particular consultation we have agreed to accept responses to the Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern consultation up to 5:00pm on Friday 14 September 2012.

An invitation to tender for this combined franchise is expected to be released in October. To compile this, the department is seeking views from the public about areas of the specification for the combined franchise.
