Consultation description

These MGNs provide Guidance on the prevention of Man Overboard and how to conduct Emergency Drills. These MGNs replace MGN 570(F) - Fishing Vessels: Emergency Drills and MGN 571(F) Fishing Vessels: Prevention of Man Overboard.

These MGNs are being updated to reflect the implementation of the ILO Work in Fishing Convention C.188 and the future publication of MGN 588 – Compulsory Provision and Wearing of Personal Floatation Devices on Fishing Vessels. This update is also to ensure that they are consistent with the guidance contained in MGN 588. The consultation on MGN 588 took place between 13 November 2017 and 12 January 2018 and can be found here.
