We received 255 responses to this consultation.

The UK government and Welsh Government have responded to the views received during this consultation.

We have now published the bass fisheries management plan (FMP) as required by the Fisheries Act 2020 and set out in the Joint Fisheries Statement.

Consultation description

We want to know what you think about the policies and proposed management measures set out in the bass fisheries management plan (FMP) for English and Welsh waters.

The proposed FMP has been developed by Defra and the Welsh Government, with stakeholder engagement facilitated by Policy Lab, a multidisciplinary team of policy makers, designers and researchers based at the Department for Education.

This FMP sets out plans for the sustainable management of bass stocks in English and Welsh waters. It also aims to ensure that the long-term benefits of bass fishing can be realised by the communities that depend on them.

We are also seeking views on an environmental report, which describes the likely environmental impacts of the bass FMP.
