The misappropriation of state funds sanctions regime

The Misappropriation (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 came fully into force on 31 December 2020. They put in place sanctions measures to deter, and provide accountability for, the misappropriation of state funds from a country outside the United Kingdom.

These regulations have replaced relevant EU regimes concerning misappropriation of State funds with a single set of regulations establishing a regime that can address misappropriation of State funds from any country outside the UK.

Those persons who are designated under this regime are included on the UK sanctions list.
