Summary estimates of the number of disabled people in employment are published regularly by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as part of their ‘Labour Market Overview, UK’ series. This publication presents more detailed analysis and break downs of those summary estimates.

Changes to the forthcoming release  

These statistics will be expanded, in the next annual update due to be released on 4 November 2026, with the addition of employment and unemployment duration, secondary reasons for economic inactivity, flows of young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET) by disability status and main reason for being NEET, strategic geographic boundaries (Combined Authorities and NHS Integrated Care Boards), disability prevalence adjusted and age-standardised disability employment gaps. Furthermore, the data will be published after the main release on the online tool  Stat-Xplore,  which allows users to create their own bespoke tables. Users are invited to provide feedback on the employment of disabled people statistics, including the new breakdowns and how you use the statistics and how well they meet your requirements.
