The employment of disabled people

These statistics give a detailed analysis and break downs of the number of disabled people in employment.

Summary estimates of the number of disabled people in employment are published regularly by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as part of their ‘Labour Market Overview, UK’ series. This publication presents more detailed analysis and break downs of those summary estimates.

Changes to the employment of disabled people statistics

These statistics were expanded in the latest annual release, published on 26 October 2023.

The changes include further employment status breakdowns by couple status and housing tenure, underemployment rates by disability status, employment flows due to health reasons, and the previous industry and occupation of the economically inactive, including those who give the main reason as long-term sickness.
