Regional improvement for standards and excellence (RISE): school support
School improvement support available through the RISE programme.
The regional improvement for standards and excellence (RISE) programme aims to break the link between young people’s backgrounds and their future success.
RISE provides support at 2 levels:
- universal support to help all schools improve
- targeted interventions for eligible schools
RISE programme guidance
Guidance for schools on the RISE attendance and behaviour hubs programme, its benefits and support, and how to join.
Universal support
Universal RISE aims to mobilise the strengths already in the system to raise standards everywhere. This includes:
- signposting effective practice through
- encouraging peer-to-peer support through conferences
- bringing schools together to share knowledge and innovation
Regional support
There are 9 RISE regions in England.
Targeted support
Targeted provides tailored support for schools facing the greatest challenges. RISE advisers engage with eligible schools and their responsible body to agree an improvement plan, backed by resources to reduce barriers to improvement. Schools are supported to improve over 12 to 24 months and are monitored by regular Ofsted inspections.
