Supplier’s experience

In relation to the contract awarded, how did you find the procurement process?

We found the process relatively straightforward and it suited our way of working.

What worked well and what could have been done better?

We liked the way the client was able to shortlist suppliers quickly, based on those who met their requirements and costings on the G-Cloud framework. It was useful for us to have some dialogue with the client to clarify some of their initial questions before being invited to present.

We fully appreciate that turnaround on procurement exercises can be tight - we’re used to that. It might have been helpful for us to have had more time to prepare for our presentation to the client. We would have liked to propose more options to showcase our offer. In this case, we won the business, which was great, but on reflection, timescales for the process could have been a bit better.

What benefit does your company receive from supplying to the public sector?

Providing to the public sector enhances our reputation enormously. The Department for Education is one of our long standing clients, and many of our other clients are keen to learn more about our work with such a high profile government department. We have developed great knowledge of the principles of working for the Government Digital Service and this makes us very attractive to other public sector clients.

What was/is/will be the outcome of the contract for the client?

We’ve been delivering the contract for just over a year and so far, it’s going very well. We’re hosting the domain and providing business as usual support services. Our own User Research team continues to work with the client to ensure a process of continuous improvement is maintained for the duration of the contract.

How would you like to work with the public sector in the future?

We would welcome a bit more flexibility at the outset of a procurement opportunity, being able to speak to the client directly. We recognise the importance of the strength of the framework structure but would like more chance to do some initial scoping directly with the client to help us determine if the opportunity is right for us to pursue, before we invest our own time further.

Customer’s testimonial

Redweb Ltd. have continued to win the contract for Get Into Teaching website support for nearly a decade through competition on the Digital Marketplace. They have consistently proven to meet the high standards required by the Department for Education on the flagship national teacher recruitment website. Where there has been issues or incidents, Redweb have agreed a plan of action and remedied the situation, resuming their usual, reliable service.

Redweb have proven to be nimble enough to accommodate rapid changes in policy for the website, and large enough to manage the capacity of national campaigns. The Department looks forward to seeing if Redweb can remain on top form for the 2019 competition.
