NDA Estate to save over £1 million on office supplies
The Crown Commercial Service framework for office supplies is set to help the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) Estate save over £1 million.
The requirement
The NDA Estate was looking for a quick route to market to purchase stationery and office supplies. In addition, it also required a solution that would allow for collaboration to maximise volume leverage under the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Office Supplies for the Wider Public Sector (RM3703) framework. This would provide the NDA Estate with a reduction in the cost of competition to all participants.
The solution
Magnox Ltd led the competition for the supply of stationery and office supplies, on behalf of the NDA Estate, and invited the 6 suppliers listed under the framework to participate in the tender. The initial qualification was a series of pass/fail questions for suppliers to answer before being invited to take part in an eAuction, led by CCS. The eAuction combined the NDA Estate’s requirements to make them more attractive to suppliers and help achieve further savings.
The results
Following the competition, the contract will now provide the NDA Estate with a single source of supply for all office supplies with an identified core list of items. The core list will, on average, see a reduction of circa 52%, whilst non-core items, which represent approximately 10% of the spend, will see a reduction of up to 50% from the recommended retail price.
This provides a potential saving in the region of £1.1 million to the NDA Estate and the taxpayer over the 2 years of the contract.
Alwena Owen from Magnox Ltd said:
“The eAuction process was straightforward and we were well supported by CCS throughout. The eAuction provided the tool for healthy competition among the suppliers and all bids placed were honoured and binding”.
