Clinical healthcare support apprenticeships

Types of clinical healthcare support apprenticeships that you can apply for.

This apprenticeship provides the skills and knowledge needed to support doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare scientists when they provide healthcare.

Training opportunities

You could work in various clinical healthcare support roles to provide patient care in a range of settings (eg as a clinical healthcare support worker or healthcare assistant). This apprenticeship includes qualifications at QCF Level 2 and 3.

Types of apprenticeships

There are 2 types of apprenticeship.

Intermediate level apprenticeships

You can train in roles like:

  • clinical healthcare support worker
  • healthcare assistant

Advanced level apprenticeships

The job roles for advanced level apprentices are the same as for intermediate apprenticeships. However, apprentices would have additional responsibilities such as supervising junior teams members, taking physiological measurements and carrying out more complex clinical procedures (eg wound care).

Apply for a clinical healthcare support apprenticeship

You can become an apprentice in England if you’re:

  • 16 or over
  • eligible to work in England
  • not in full-time education
