Bird flu: near Witham, Braintree, Essex (AIV 2022/100)

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in poultry and captive birds on 9 October 2022.

10 March 2023: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance within the zone, the 10km surveillance zone has been revoked.

11 January 2023: following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance within the zones, the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed the protection zone is now part of the 10km surveillance zone.

The birds on the premises have been humanely culled.
