Bird flu: near Welton, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire (AIV2025/126)

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Welton, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire on 14 December 2025.

Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone around a premises near Welton, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire (AIV 2025/126), the 10km surveillance zone has been revoked.

11 February 2026

Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone around a premises near Welton, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire (AIV 2025/126), the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed it becomes part of the surveillance zone.

All birds on the premises have been humanely culled.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in a large commercial poultry flock at a premises near Welton, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire.

A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone has been declared around the premises. All birds on the premises will be humanely culled.

This revokes and replaces the declaration of an avian influenza protection zone and surveillance zone.
