Bird flu: near Hingham, South Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/14)

     Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone, the 10km surveillance zone has been revoked.

     Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone around a premises near Hingham, South Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/14), the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed the protection zone becomes a surveillance zone.

22 January 2025: Following successful completion of disease control activities and surveillance in the zone around a premises near Hingham, South Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/14), the 3km protection zone has ended and the area that formed the protection zone becomes a surveillance zone.

24 December 2024: Following further testing highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Hingham, South Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV 2024/14 previously AIV SOS 2024/03). All affected poultry on the premises will be humanely culled. A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises replacing the temporary control zone declared on 23 December 2024.

23 December 2024: Following the report of suspicion of highly pathogenic avian influenza in commercial poultry at a premises near Hingham, South Norfolk, Norfolk (AIV SOS 2024/03) a decision has been taken to pre-emptively cull the birds based on the clinical signs observed and rapidly increasing mortality. All affected poultry on the premises will be humanely culled. A 3km temporary control zone A and a 10km surveillance zone have been put in place surrounding the premises.
