Overview

Science and innovation underpin the economies of both Poland and the UK. Encouraging work between the two countries therefore produces benefits for both.

Responsibilities

To promote international collaboration the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office jointly fund the UK Science and Innovation Network based in 31 countries around the world.

SIN Poland work to the following global objectives:

  • influence science and innovation policies of Polish governments, industry and academia to benefit the UK
  • improve UK policy based on international experience and emerging opportunities and challenges with Poland
  • stimulate strategic science collaborations with Poland to benefit the UK and deliver wider policy goals
  • harness Polish international technology partnerships and investment to grow UK innovation capability

YESI: Year of Entrepreneurship, Science and Innovation

UK and Polish ministers have agreed that 2018 should the Polish-UK Year of Entrepreneurship, Science and Innovation. This is a programme of events to boost and showcase the cooperation and opportunities in these areas, and includes initiatives such as the Warsaw-London Bridge for tech start-ups (which will be extended to Fintech and Healthtech) and the first UK-Poland Science forum on 13-14 September 2018.
