Report a mistake on your MOT record

Use this online form to report a mistake on your MOT record.

You cannot use the form if your MOT was in Northern Ireland. You’ll need to contact the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) instead.

You can use the form to report a mistake with:

  • mileage, if the MOT was more than 28 days ago
  • the colour, make, model or fuel type of the vehicle
  • the country where the vehicle was registered
  • the name or location of the MOT centre

You can also use the form to find out how to report a mistake with:

  • mileage, if the MOT was in the last 28 days
  • the MOT due date
  • the MOT history (a missing test or a test that should not be there)

You cannot change or remove MOT results, defects or any ‘advisory’ problems. You can appeal the result of your MOT if you think it’s wrong.

Before you start

To report a mistake using the form, you’ll need to give:

  • your name

  • the vehicle details, such as the make and model
  • the vehicle’s registration number (number plate)
  • the vehicle’s identification number (VIN)
  • the MOT details, such as the MOT test date and number, if you’re correcting the mileage or MOT centre details

  • the mileage
  • a date within one day of the MOT test
