Marine works consent (Scotland)

If you want to carry out work that could be detrimental to the navigation of waters, you must have consent from the Board of Trade.

Work detrimental to navigation could be:

  • construction, alteration or improvement works on, under or over part of the seashore that lays below the level of mean high water springs
  • depositing any objects or materials on such a seashore
  • removing any object or material on seashore that lays below the level of mean low water springs

You may have to provide plans or other information.
