Global Mine Action Programme 3: research

Closed: the FCDO invited proposals by 30 March 2024 to conduct research into the evidence base for contributing to outcomes in mine action.

This call for proposals closed on 30 March 2024.

UK funding for mine action saves lives, prevents injuries, releases land for productive use, informs further development programming, and contributes to security and stabilisation outcomes.

The Global Mine Action Programme 3 (GMAP3) is the main programme for UK mine actions: mine clearance, explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) and capacity development in 10 countries across 3 continents.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) seeks 1 or more research projects, up to a total value of £200,000, which:

  • address an evidence gap that prevents the clear evaluation of the Global Mine Action Programme’s achievement of its outcomes
  • adds to the evidence base for mine action available to the sector

What the fund will achieve

The grant agreement resulting from this call for proposals will address evidence gaps to help donors optimise their allocations and help implementers tailor their interventions to local contexts.

The findings of the research projects funded will help increase value for money and impact upon beneficiaries across UK programming and the wider sector.

Four priority areas have been selected, although bids will be considered outside of these areas.

Projects will start in May 2024 and end on 31 March 2025, for a total of 11 months.
