How to calculate the daily rate for UY from the In Year S17 (IYS17) notice

Step 1

On the ‘Function Menu’

  • select ‘IY Finalisation’ on the toolbar
  • select ‘View In Year S17 Details’. You will be taken to the ‘Key Entry Data - In Year Section 17 Notice’ screen
  • enter the customer’s Nino
  • select ‘OK’. You will be taken to ‘In Year Finalisation - View IYS17 - Current Position’ screen
  • select ‘Details’ under the ‘Declaration Replies’ box, you will be taken to ‘In Year Finalisation - View IY S17 - Declaration Reply’
  • go to .

Step 2

  • divide each income type using the UY days

For example: The customer has ‘Earnings as an Employee’ of £1675 and ‘Taxable Social Security Benefits’ of £536. The number of UY days is 205. ‘Earning as an Employee’ of £1675 divided by 205 equals a daily rate of £8.17. ‘Taxable Social Security Benefits’ of £536 divided by 205 equals a daily rate of £2.61.
