TCM1000193 - How to trace a customer on TBS

Changes to previous version - new guidance

Step 1

From ‘My Workplace’

  • select ‘Corporate Services’
  • select ‘Interim Single Sign On (ISSO)’
  • select ‘TBS View Service’ from the options available
  • select ‘Find Taxpayer’
  • enter the customer’s

    • surname
    • forename
    • date of birth. You will need to enter it in the format DD-MM-YYYY
  • select ‘Find’. You will be taken to the ‘Find Taxpayer’ screen
  • check the list of names and details on this screen with the customer details you have.

If you find details on the list that match the customer details you have

  • you have successfully traced the customer
  • note any details you need, for example the NINO.

Note: You must check all the details carefully until you are happy you have traced the correct tax credits customer.

If you are not sure any details on the list match the customer details you have, go to Step 2.

Step 2

On the ‘Find Taxpayer’ screen

  • select the customer you think most closely matches the customer details you have
  • select ’OK’. You will be taken to the ‘View Taxpayer Summary Details’ screen.

Note: This screen will provide you with more details of the selected customer.

If you are satisfied that this customer matches the details you have

  • you have successfully traced the customer
  • note any details you need, for example the NINO.

Note: You must check all the details carefully until you are happy you have traced the correct tax credits customer.

If you are still not sure that this customer matches the details you have

  • select ‘View’ on the toolbar
  • select ‘Address History’ from the options available. You will be taken to the ‘View Taxpayer Address History’ screen
  • check all the previous addresses in the ‘Address History’ field to see if the details match the address you have
  • go to Step 3.

Step 3

If you are satisfied you have found the customer that matches the details you have

  • you have successfully traced the customer
  • note any details you need, for example the NINO.

Note: You must check all the details carefully until you are happy you have traced the correct tax credits customer.

If you are still not satisfied you have found the correct customer to match the details you have

  • select ‘OK’. You will be taken back to the ‘View Taxpayer Summary Details’ screen
  • select ‘OK’. You will be taken back to the ‘Find Taxpayer’ screen
  • select a different customer and go back to Step 2.
