TCM1000191 - How to complete a NIRS Update Referral template

Step 1

If you are completing the referral for a compliance termination, go to Step 3.

If you are completing the referral for any other reason, go to Step 2.

Step 2

On the NIRS Update Referral template

Note: When completing the template you must use the ‘tab key’ to move from one field to the next. All dates should be entered as ‘dd/mm/yyyy’.

  • enter the customer’s details in ‘Part 1’
  • select one of the checkboxes in ‘Part 2’ to show whether the customer is
    • disabled
    • employed
      and / or
    • self-employed
  • enter all the start and end dates of the WTC basic element received in the relevant tax year
  • enter your details in ‘Part 4’. You have completed the NIRS Update Referral template.

Step 3

For compliance termination cases, on the NIRS Update Referral template

Note: When completing the template you must use the ‘tab key’ to move from one field to the next. All dates should be entered as ‘dd/mm/yyyy’.

  • enter the customer’s details in ‘Part 1’
  • enter the beginning date of the termination in the ‘From’ box in ‘Part 3’
  • enter the end date the termination in the ‘To’ box in ‘Part 3’
    Note: If the termination applies across multiple tax years you must enter the start date of the first year to the end date of the last year. For example, for a termination that applied across 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 you would enter from 06/04/08 to 05/04/10 on the referral.
  • enter your details in ‘Part 4’. You have completed the NIRS Update Referral template.
