TCM1000141 - How to check if the childcare change has been reported too far in the future

Step 1

Childcare changes can be reported in advance but only within set timescales. To check if the change has been reported too early

  • go to the Sunday date at the start of the week in which the change is due to happen
    then
  • go back to the previous Monday date for the earliest date the change can be reported.
For example: If the childcare costs are due to start or change from Wednesday 2 September 2009, the customer can report the change from Monday 24 August 2009.
Note: The only exception to this rule is when the customer is reporting the end of their childcare costs for short term childcare only. End dates for short term childcare can be accepted and entered on the tax credits computer up to 70 days in advance of today’s date.
