SAM107001 - Records: welsh language: introduction

Legislation gives equal status to the Welsh and English languages. A taxpayer is therefore entitled to request that all correspondence is issued in the Welsh language.

If such a request is received it is necessary to ensure that output from the SA system is sent to HMRC Welsh Customer Service, HM Revenue & Customs, Thedford House, High Street, Porthmadog, LL49 9BF in order that translations may be produced and issued to the taxpayer or a person acting in capacity.

The SA return will not be issued automatically if the Language signal is set to ‘Welsh’ on the taxpayer’s SA record. The case will be included on the ‘Manual Issue of Return’ work list. A Welsh version of the return will be prepared manually by the Welsh Contact Centre.
