Customer contact: Outdoor calls: Customer wants proof that we are calling from HMRC

If you are conducting an outdoor call and the customer wants proof that you are calling from HMRC you should show them your HMRC ID card. You should never let a customer take the card away from you or out of your sight.

If for whatever reason they are not satisfied with this, you should give them the office number and ask them to make a quick call to verify that a HMRC officer is due to visit them today.
