CDSSG10030 - Step-By-Step Guide, Step 5 - 4-Digit to 3-Digit Procedure Code to Additional Procedure Code Correlation Matrix

Each Movement Type provides a correlation matrix that identifies which 4-digit Procedure Codes and 3-digit Additional Procedure Codes may be used together.  Ensure the appropriate matrix is selected for the type of movement being made.

The matrix may be found by using the Navigation Guide for the chosen Movement Type (see CDSSG06000 for guidance on identifying the Movement Type):

The Matrix can also be accessed direct from the Guidance section for the specific Movement Type:

The Matrix identifies the full set of Additional Procedure Codes that are permitted to be used with the Procedure Code.  This does not mean that all the Additional Procedure Codes shown need to be used, it provides the list of available codes from which the required Additional Procedure Codes should be selected.  If the Matrix does not contain a ‘Y’ in the cell it is not a valid combination.

The Matrix contains two tabs within the spreadsheet.

Tab 1 is sorted by the Procedure Code and indicates which Additional Procedure Codes may be used with each Procedure Code .
