CTSA: quarterly instalments: due dates: accounting period less than 12 months: examples

Example 1

Accounting period 1 January 2012 to 31 July2012.

  • Final instalment (3 months and 14 days after the end of the accounting period) = 14.11.2012.
  • First instalment (6 months and 13 days after 1.1.2012) = 14.7.2012.
  • Second instalment (3 months after the first instalment) = 14.10. 2012. Note: the third instalment is not due. (The due date for the third instalment is 3 months after the second. In this case, that is 14.1.2013, which is after the due date for the final instalment.)

Example 2

Accounting period 16 October 2011 to 20 July 2012.

  • Final instalment (3 months and 14 days after the end of the accounting period) = 3.11.2012.
  • First instalment (6 months and 13 days after 16.10.2011) = 29.4.2012.
  • Second instalment (3 months after the first) = 29.7.2012.
  • Third instalment 3 months after the second = 29.10.2012.

Example 3

Accounting period 1 June 2012 to 31 August 2012.

  • Final instalment (3 months and 14 days after 31.8.2012) = 14.12.2012.

Note: the due date for the first instalment, 6 months and 13 days after 1.6.2012, falls on the same day as the final instalment, so only one instalment is due.
