background: features of SLBS: date format

In some HMRC computer systems you are not required to complete date entries in full. For example a ‘/’ symbol is automatically entered by the computer system. For example an entry of 051051 will be automatically converted by the computer system to 05/10/51.

In the Student Loans Business Service (SLBS) all fields requiring a date entry must be completed in full to the following standard

  • DD-MM-YYYY. For example, 05-10-1951

Leading zeros and the symbol ‘-‘ must be used. If your entry does not meet the standard, you will be presented with an error message and will have to correct your field entry.
