ATACPD06200 - Third country issued ATA carnets for temporary importation: action at the office of exit

Note: This manual is under review and is likely to be withdrawn. If there is anything within this manual you use regularly, please email hmrcmanualsteam@hmrc.gov.uk to let us know. Please check the other guidance available on GOV.UK from HMRC.

The basic checks are as per ATACPD06100. Box H must be completed as follows:

Item Action required
H(a) No specific action required but by completing this section, you are confirming that all the goods on the General List have been declared for re-exportation.
H(b) Record details of any goods detailed on the carnet, presented but not re-exported. This will include details of any diversion entries presented.
H(c) Record details of any goods detailed on the carnet, not presented and not re-exported. This will include details of any diversion entries presented.
H(d) Insert the local office reference number.
H(e) The office of entry should have completed this.
H(f) Insert any other relevant remarks and then insert details of your office, the date, signature, and office date stamp.

Boxes H (b) and H (c) are important because they allow the NCU to pursue any items that may have been brought into the UK without payment of the relevant import taxes.

When you have finalised your checks and completed the white re-exportation voucher, detach it from the carnet and send it immediately to the office named in Box H(e).

Finally, you must complete the white re-exportation counterfoil. This will repeat much of the information put onto the white voucher.

Box Information to be inserted
1 The General List item numbers referring to the goods imported.
2 Action taken in respect of goods produced but not re-exported
3 Action taken in respect of goods not produced and not re-exported
4 Any local reference numbers
5 Name of the customs office of exit
6 Location of the customs office of exit
7 Date of entry.
8 Signature and office date stamp.
