Amending a declaration
Information about amending a declaration.
Once submitted, the original g-form cannot be amended. Depending on the information you need to change this may be classed as a minor or major amendment.
Minor amendments include things like changes to the date and time of the movement, the number of packages, or something has been removed from the cargo. You can record these changes in your records and do not need to submit another form.
Major amendments include adding goods to the cargo (for example, the goods description does not include the additional goods), or if you have used the wrong customs procedure or EORI number or the vessel or aircraft has changed. You will need to make a new submission and link it to the previous one using the submission reference number.
If the goods you are adding to the shipment can be covered by a goods description already included, you don’t need to do anything except ensure records cover all the goods shipped. If the number of packages has changed you will need to amend this in records.
You may amend or cancel a Customs Declaration Service (CDS) import declaration up to the point you receive a final tax calculation message from CDS. After this point you will need to make a voluntary clearance amendment or request a repayment of import duty and VAT if you’ve overpaid.
To amend an export declaration made using CDS you will need to submit a C81.
