Tell us about life-safety fire risks on the external wall system of your building

The Cladding Safety Scheme is for buildings that are 11m+ outside London and 11-18m inside London. The scheme provides funding for the remediation or mitigation of the fire safety risks linked to unsafe external wall systems on buildings where the responsible developer cannot be identified.

Applies to England

Your building may qualify for a grant to address life-safety fire risks associated with external wall systems if:

  • it’s 11 metres or higher outside of London and 11 to 18 metres high in Greater London
  • it’s a residential or mixed-use building with at least one flat with a long lease
  • and where the responsible developer cannot be identified

Full details of the requirements that buildings and applicants need to satisfy to apply to the Cladding Safety Scheme are explained in our guidance.

If your building is higher than 18 metres, apply to the Building Safety Fund instead.

How you’ll know if your external wall system has life-safety fire risks

It is a requirement of the Cladding Safety Scheme that applications must be supported by a Fire Risk Appraisal of External Wall construction (FRAEW) from a fire risk assessor from our panel.

If you do not already have a FRAEW, when you apply, we’ll show you a list of the fire risk assessors on the Cladding Safety Scheme panel to contact.

Using this form

You can use the form if you’re the individual or organisation that is legally responsible for the building’s external repairs and maintenance (also called the Responsible Entity).

For example, a freeholder, head of a resident-led organisation or Right to Manage company.

Or you can apply directly to the Cladding Safety Scheme.

If you’re a leaseholder or tenant

If you’re a leaseholder or tenant and your building is not already part of the Cladding Safety Scheme, you can use this form to provide us with the details of your building so that we can contact the Responsible Entity and determine whether further action is required.

What you’ll need

You’ll need:

  • the building name and address
  • the number of storeys, starting from ground level (do not include basement sections of the building below ground level)

You’ll also need to tell us if your building is under interim measures. For example, a waking watch.
