Tell HMRC an entity liable for the Economic Crime Levy has become insolvent

Cancel an organisation or individual's registration for the Economic Crime Levy and send any final returns to HMRC, if they've become insolvent.

Use this online form if an organisation or individual liable for the Economic Crime Levy becomes insolvent. You can:

  • submit the relevant returns whether the registered business continues to trade or not
  • cancel their registration for the Economic Crime Levy

Who can use this form

You can use the online form if you’re appointed as:

  • a trustee in bankruptcy or sequestration
  • a liquidator
  • an administrator

Before you start

To use this form you’ll need the:

  • name of the organisation or individual
  • business address
  • Economic Crime Levy registration number
  • type of insolvency
  • date when the business became subject to the insolvency procedure
  • deregistration date

The types of insolvency include:

  • administration
  • members’ voluntary liquidation
  • creditors’ voluntary liquidation
  • compulsory liquidation
  • individual insolvency such as bankruptcy or sequestration

How to cancel

You’ll need to sign in to cancel the registration online. You can use either:

  • your sign in details — you can create these if you do not have them
  • your email address — you will get a confirmation code that you can use to sign in
