When you apply to Homes England for affordable housing grant funding we carry out checks on both you and your organisation.
What we check
We look at your organisation’s:
- registered status
- registered address
- accounts
We also require proof of identity and addresses for your:
- beneficial owner or owners
- controllers
- directors
- decision makers
We check for evidence of:
- money laundering
- terrorist financing
Share customer due diligence information with Homes England
To allow Homes England to carry out customer due diligence checks you must download and complete a ‘customer due diligence — know your customer (KYC) form’ and return it to us.
The form requests information relating to the organisation and key controllers applying for affordable housing grant funding.
Why we might share the information you provide
Crime prevention and debt recovery
To prevent crime, we verify your identity, and to recover debt, we may exchange information with:
- fraud prevention agencies
- law enforcement agencies
- debt recovery agencies
- other organisations including other lenders
If you give us false or inaccurate information and potential fraud is identified, your details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies to prevent fraud and money laundering.
Complying with legislation
Your information may be processed for the purpose of complying with applicable laws, including, without limitation, laws and regulations that aim to stop:
- money laundering
- terrorism
- crime
This may require the disclosure of information to:
- a UK (or other) governmental or regulatory authority
- any other person we reasonably think necessary

When you return your form you understand that any information you, or your advisors and consultants, supply is provided for the purposes of carrying out our KYC due diligence checks.
Information is provided in confidence but disclosure may be required by law in certain circumstances, including, but not limited to, our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
You can make the case for exemptions by submitting a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. We reserve the right to disclose the information where we are required to do so.
