Report a Simpler Recycling non-compliance
How to report a business or organisation that is not separating or collecting recyclable waste in line with the Simpler Recycling rules.
Applies to England
Anyone can report workplaces that do not follow the Simpler Recycling rules to the Environment Agency.
You can report:
- workplaces, including business, charities and public sector organisations
- private waste collectors (the Environment Agency does not regulate local authority collections)
- businesses who make arrangements for the collection of waste from workplaces, such as property landlords, facilities management companies and waste brokers
You should not use this form to report issues with waste collected from:
- households
- businesses with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees (these have until 31 March 2027 to comply with the new rules)
Report a workplace or waste collector
Fill in the online form to report a workplace, waste collector or other business that is non-compliant with the Simpler Recycling rules.
You’ll need:
- information about which waste materials were incorrectly mixed
- photos with evidence of the non-compliance (if you have them)
- details of the organisation that is non-compliant
- the address where the non-compliance was witnessed (this may be the workplace or permitted waste facility, and it may not be the address of the party responsible)
What happens next
The information will be assessed by the national Simpler Recycling team at the Environment Agency.
If further information is required, they will contact you by email (if you chose to provide an email address).
