Register to provide a specified ITT (FE) course

Providers of initial teacher training for further education must register with the Department for Education before the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year.

Applies to England

Initial teacher training (ITT) providers intending to deliver a specified ITT (FE) course must use this form to register.

You’ll need:

  • the legal name of your organisation
  • your UK provider reference number (UKPRN)
  • details of the specified ITT (FE) courses you intend to offer in the 2026 to 2027 academic year
  • Ofqual qualification numbers for all Ofqual-regulated qualifications offered at Level 5
  • details of any validating or franchising agreements, including the UKPRN of any validating or franchising partner institutions

The form follows the same sequence of questions set out in the registration requirements for providers of specified further education initial teacher education courses. This guidance provides more detail on each question.

The Further Education (Initial Teacher Training) Regulations 2026, which mandates registration with DfE, came into force on 15 April 2026. They have legal effect from the 2026 to 2027 academic year onwards.
