Project Gigabit network build contract – Cheshire

Freedom Fibre is no longer delivering the Project Gigabit contract for Cheshire.

BDUK and Freedom Fibre have mutually agreed to terminate the Project Gigabit contract for Cheshire. BDUK is now moving swiftly to put in place alternative plans with other suppliers to connect premises that were due to be connected.

Freedom Fibre has not received any public funding for this contract.

Update to Project Gigabit network build contract - Cheshire February 2026

In February 2026, BDUK agreed a contract change with Openreach to include premises in this area within a new Project Gigabit contract (call‑off eight). Through call‑off eight, BDUK has awarded Openreach £37.5 million to deliver gigabit‑capable broadband to around 18,500 hard‑to‑reach premises across Cheshire.
