Pay your deputyship fees

Find out the methods available for paying your deputyship fees.

Applies to England and Wales

As a deputy you must pay a fee each year to Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). This covers the cost for OPG to supervise and support you. It is usually due on 31 March for the previous year’s supervision.

To avoid any delays processing your payment, please do not pay by cheque.

Pay online

You can pay online using a debit or credit card. Go to the Supervision payments site and enter your card details.

You will be asked for a reference number when paying. Please use your OPG case number. You will find this on the letters you have received from us.

Pay by bank transfer

You can pay by transferring the fee to this account:

  • Sort Code: 60 70 80
  • Account Number: 10029052
  • Account Name: OPG Supervision
  • Reference: Your OPG case number

Pay by phone

To pay by phone using a debit or credit card, please phone OPG Supervision Billing Team on 0121 600 6118 (International: +44121 600 6118).

Pay by Direct Debit:

You may find it more convenient to set up a Direct Debit. It will withdraw the fee payment from your account each year, so that you don’t have to arrange it each time. You can set the Direct Debit up at any time during the year.

You can contact OPG for a Direct Debit form to fill in with your contact details. Email opgfinance@publicguardian.gov.uk for a copy of the form.

What do the fees pay for?

Our fees are set by Parliament and cover the cost of our services, including:

  • checking the report that you send us each year
  • support from Court of Protection visitors who can help you with any difficulties you’re having
  • supervision services to ensure you’re acting in accordance with the court order
  • investigating reported concerns
  • advice and guidance from our case managers and customer contact centre

You can find more information about OPG and its services online.
