Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI)
The Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) is a US Department of Defense (DoD) programme.
MURI is sponsored by the DoD research offices including the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Army Research Office (ARO) and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR).
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) have agreed to offer UK academics an opportunity to obtain funding to support their engagement in the MURI programme for 2017.
You will find details of the funding opportunity on www.grants.gov. Type ‘N00014-16-R-FO05’ into the keyword search box. You will see 2 results, one from each of the DoD research offices named above. The details for each are similar.
The topic selected for UK MURI 2017 engagement is: Topic 19 (ARO): “Characterization of Information Content in Data for Multimodal Data Analysis”
How to apply
In order to be eligible for funding, you will need to be part of a US-led proposal. Funding of a successful UK academic team will be sourced through EPSRC. If you are interested in the scheme and intend to be part of a US-led proposal, please contact EPSRC (Matthew.Lodge@epsrc.ac.uk) and Dstl (MURI@dstl.gov.uk) at the earliest opportunity.
