Learning from DCMS support to the Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership

This page provides information on learning from DCMS’s support to the voluntary and community sector to prepare for emergencies.

Applies to England

The Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership (VCSEP) aims to build capability across the civil society sector to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies. It is a partnership of voluntary and community sector organisations co-chaired by the British Red Cross and the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA).

A grant of up to £2.76 million was awarded to VCSEP by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) from April 2022 to March 2026 to improve the capability and effectiveness of the voluntary and community sector input into emergency preparedness, planning and response, working closely with government, local partners and their communities to do so.

An independent evaluation partner realife Learning was commissioned by VCSEP to review the effectiveness of its activities from 2022 to 2025. Read the report on the VCSEP website.
