Types of apprenticeships that you can apply for in the explosives storage and maintenance sector.
Training is needed to understand how to properly store and maintain explosives without causing danger to yourself or others.
Any training you get will be heavily focused on safety and will include how to handle, transport and hand over explosives. Because of the risks and requirements associated with such a position you’ll have to be at least 18 in order to apply for this placement.
Technicians are usually employed by the armed forces, but positions can also be found in the private sector. In the past, individuals in the explosives industry were almost exclusively retired service personnel, however the armed forces have realised the need for skilled new talent in this sector.
Types of apprenticeships
This is an intermediate level apprenticeship. If you’re working in the forces you’ll be trained as an ammunition technician. The placement will normally last for around 14 months.
