Guidance

Cattle passports: temporary changes to requesting amendments

Due to the current coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak we are making temporary changes to the way you request passport amendments.

This guidance was withdrawn on

This information is now out of date please see the Get a cattle passport page for up to date information

Please do not send passport amendments to the British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS) by post, if possible, as there will be a delay in returning your updated passport to you.

It’s important that you to double check the accuracy of your cattle applications to avoid requesting any amendments at a later date.

However, if you need to make a passport amendment you should follow the guidance below and post the original passport to BCMS when you are able to do so.

  • write on the passport what information needs to be amended
  • write ‘Cancelled’ in large bold letters across the front of the passport
  • take a photo of the front and back page of the passport (if the amendment is to the date of birth, or requires 3 or more amendments, please also take a photo of your calving records)
  • email the photo(s) to bcmsenquiries@rpa.gov.uk. Use the subject title ‘Passport Amendment Request – CPH 00/000/0000’ so that we can easily identify your request.

When we receive your email we will make the necessary amendment and you will receive the updated passport in the post.

We may need to contact you if we require further information.

Where you need to contact us, whenever possible please email bcmsenquiries@rpa.gov.uk, use the CTS Online feedback option, or ring the helpline on 0345 050 1234.
