Vacancy information

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is the department for growth. The BIS legal team is looking for intellectually capable, highly motivated lawyers with powerful communication skills to join its advisory teams. The work is intellectually stimulating, fast moving, politically sensitive and often in the news. BIS lawyers are currently working on a number of first session Bills dealing with trade unions, enterprise and Sunday trading, as well as drafting secondary legislation to update copyright law and establish a register of persons with significant control of companies.

Much of the work is EU based and involves negotiations in Brussels and subsequent domestic implementation. You will develop expertise in public and international law and human rights, and have the opportunity to work closely with senior officials and Ministers in developing government policy.
