Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

*Map pop ups *Map movement by clicking and dragging * Drawing a polygon on the map The above elements all require interaction using a mouse, it is not possible to replace this functionality with an alternative. Users who are unable to interact with the maps can access plan area level maps in the published Marine Plan PDF’s. A link is provided at the top of each service page titled ‘Marine Planning Documents’.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

See below.

Disproportionate burden

A mobile design pattern has not been implemented as user research during the Discovery, Alpha and Beta version of the service did not identify a specific user requirement. Analysis of the services predecessor showed that less than 2% of traffic to the service was via a mobile device. As the mapping application would require significant investment it has not been prioritised at this time.
