UK/Rwanda cycling – a formula for success

Team Rwanda professional cyclists were in the United Kingdom to compete in the “Prudential Ride London 2016” cycling competition

Team Rwanda professional cyclists Nathan Byukusenge, Adrien Niyonshuti, Faustin Mparambanyi, Emmanuel Nkurunziza and Alphonse Nshimiyimana were in the United Kingdom during July to compete in the “Prudential Ride London 2016” cycling competition, racing on UK-made Dassi bikes. While in the UK, the team also visited the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where they met Danae Dholakia, the UK’s Special Envoy to the Great Lakes region. They also met the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. The team competed alongside world famous cyclists including the UK’s Chris Froome, fresh from winning his third Tour de France earlier in July 2016

The British public and Rwandans living in the UK gave Team Rwanda incredible fantastic reception and supported throughout the competition. The event showcased Rwanda and her cycling potential, with the three cyclists competing against the best in the world. Their success also helped promote a modern and vibrant image of Rwanda, demonstrating Rwanda’s progress over the last 20 years. The experience gained at the competition will enable the team strive for even greater heights at Rio 2016 Olympics this month.
