This year sees the biggest ever programme of UK cultural projects taking place across Russia and an unprecedented showcase of Russian culture in the UK.
In March 2013, the UK Foreign Secretary William Hague and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that 2014 will be UK-Russia Year of Culture.
The Year celebrates the rich and diverse cultural heritage of both countries. It aims to foster cultural exchange, increase the flow of ideas and develop stronger relationships between people, institutions and governments.
Celebrations will run through the year, and finishing in December.
