Their Royal Hignesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited Slovenia at the invitation of British Embassy Ljubljana. They took part in various events aimed at promoting British innovation, fashion, heritage, business and the bilateral relationship with Slovenia.

The visit was an important way to promote UK values in Slovenia and to create a favourable environment for British business opportunities in the country. Slovenia is also UK’s valued partner in the EU, sharing, among others, the same goals of competitiveness and enlargement.

In his role as the UK and International Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, Prince Edward presented gold awards to Slovenian participants in the scheme, while the Countess of Wessex promoted British fashion expertise as the patron of the London College of Fashion.

This was the first visit by His Royal Highness to Slovenia. HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited Slovenia in 2008. HRH The Prince of Wales visited Slovenia in 1998, HRH The Duke of York in 2007 and HRH The Princess Royal in 1996.
